“One of the most outstanding and challenging new bits of music I've heard this year.”
“Without a doubt one of the most impressive, immersive records to emerge this year. […] A record that commands multiple listens and rightly deserves every second poured in.”
“Dream-like compositions; there's a slightly surreal air to Makeunder's music, a uniquely visual property that arrives laced in superlative colour.”
Highlights
- Wrote and released three Makeunder albums, each critically received, with features on NPR’s All Songs Considered, BBC 6 Music, and Consequence of Sound.
- Arranged the strings on Cam’s “Burning House,” a Platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated single.
- Produced and arranged for a range of artists in Nashville and Los Angeles.
Before I moved into software, I spent the better part of a decade as a working musician. I fronted Makeunder, an experimental pop band. I led all of its art direction. I also worked as a producer and arranger for others, practically living in (and for) recording studios.

Albums
An album about my grandfather migrating from Canada to the US. I recorded it myself on my laptop's internal mic, while preparing my childhood home for my cancer-ridden father to return from the hospital to finish his last days. Radiate, Satellite, 2013
An album about my eccentric father's death, and how my family came to terms with it. Great Headless Blank, 2015
An album about my family moving from weird rural hippie Humboldt County to Texas, where we never really fit in and never quite found our footing. Pale Cicada, 2019 Video
“Great Headless Blank,” directed by Carine Khalif. Hand-painted frames on glass and clay.
Trailers
I designed a number of trailers for my last album, Pale Cicada.
Instrumentation
I mapped every instrument and piece of equipment used to make Pale Cicada, grouped by category. Open it full-size to read the labels.
